EAST STROUDSBURG, Pa. — The ESU men's wrestling team went 2-1 on the day, falling in the opener to Shippensburg but rebounding with wins over New Jersey City and New York.
NOTABLES
- Gavin Reynolds was ESU's only wrestler to wrestler in all three duals and win all three matches. Reynolds began the day with an 11-3 major decision win over Shippensburg's Anthony Lavish, and then beat New Jersey City's Andy Beras by technical fall, 20-5, 3:57. Closing out the meet, Reynolds ended with a 10-3 decision win against New York's Robert Leeds.
- Ajay Hiller only had to wrestle twice, going perfect in his two matches. After Shippensburg forfeited the 285-pound match, Hiller pinned New Jersey City's Walter Thomas in 2:25. Then, with ESU trailing by four heading into the final match of the dual, Hiller picked up another win by fall in 0:51, pinning New York's Nathan Faxon to earn the win for ESU.
- Luke Ciampa also went 2-0, picking up wins in the Shippensburg and New York duals. Ciampa defeated Shippensburg's Cole Lang by technical fall 24-3, 3:31, and held on for a decision victory over New York's Justin Mayes, 8-7.
