3/23/2026 2:30:00 PM

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. — After a stellar PSAC East debut against Millersville, Evan Hughes was dubbed the PSAC East Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Monday afternoon.

Hughes was dealing in the first PSAC East start of his career, shutting down the No. 24 Millersville offense. Hughes got the start in the second game of the series for ESU, throwing six complete innings while keeping the Marauders off the scoreboard. He only allowed two hits and gave up two bases on balls, striking out six as the Warriors shut out Millersville in the first half of Saturday's doubleheader.

With the performance, he brought his ERA on the season down to an even 2.00 while picking up his team-best fifth win in as many decisions. Hughes has won the first two PSAC East Pitcher of the Week awards for ESU since Brent Francisco went back-to-back on April 8 and 15 in 2024. He's also the first first-year pitcher for ESU to win the honor since Cam Voss in 2019.

ESU has another busy week lined up, finishing its series against Millersville today, then returning to host Queens at 3 p.m. tomorrow. Later this week, the Warriors open their series against West Chester at home at 1 p.m. on Friday.
