How it Happened
In the bottom of the second inning, Barton took advantage of an ESU error to take a 1-0 lead despite not recording a hit. The Bulldogs added to their lead in the home half the fifth inning when Andres Machado singled up the middle to make the score 2-0. Barton got a runner in scoring position after Matthew Restivo reached on a base hit before advancing to third on an ESU throwing error.
With two outs in the bottom of the sixth inning, Barton strung together a pair of singles to push their advantage to 3-0. After Ryan McIsaac reached on a fielder's choice, he was able to score from second on a base knock from Colby Warren.
Barton tacked on an insurance run before the ESU's final at-bats in the bottom of the eighth inning as a bases loaded walk made the score 4-0.
ESU wouldn't go down without a fight in the last inning as a Pirivpavel double followed by a two-out base hit from Torreullas gave ESU their first run. But the Bulldogs recorded the final out the very next batter to secure the series win.
