BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – Trailing 2-0 after the fourth minute of action, the East Stroudsburg University men's soccer team cut the deficit to one goal at 2-1 and 3-2, but ultimately suffered its first loss of the season after 11 matches in a 3-2 road loss at Bloomsburg on Wednesday evening inside Steph Pettit Stadium.
The Warriors (5-1-5, 1-1-5 PSAC East) falls for the first time in 341 days, with ESU falling to Mercyhurst in the PSAC Semifinals on Nov. 4, 2022 at Steph Pettit Stadium. The Huskies (5-2-3, 4-1-2, PSAC East) extend its lead to six points over the Warriors (14-8) for third-place in the PSAC East Division standings.
Notables
- Trevor Paone registered both goals for the Warriors, with both scores coming in the second half. The Ocean City, N.J. native now ranks third on the team with four goals and nine points overall.
- Bradley Turocy assisted both plays, sending a nice deflection to setup Paone's first goal, while using his feet to setup Paone's header as ESU cut the deficit to 3-2 in the 85th minute of action. Turocy's two assists are the first of the season for the Bethlehem native, who is tied with Nathan Bradway for fourth on the team.
- Bloomburg's Alex Wilsterman registered the first and game-winning goal for the Huskies. Alicea Braden recorded BU's second goal of the contest in the fourth minute.
- ESU goalkeeper Helgi Hermannsson (2-1-2) made three saves in 90 minutes in his first loss of the campaign. The Huskies' Brady Rimple made seven saves in the victory.
- Despite suffering the loss, ESU led 20-9 on shots and 9-6 on shots on goal. Both teams tallied four corner kicks. ESU was issued three yellow cards, with Turocy, Colby Raymond, AJ Rivera being booked.

- 2' | Bloomsburg opened the scoring early, with a shot from Patrick Walsh deflecting off of Hermannsson's gloves, as Wilsterman deposited a header into an open net.
- 4' | The Huskies doubled its lead a couple of minutes later, with Braden Alicea sending an impressive, high shot past Hermannsson's outstretched arms, perfectly placed in the far-upper corner for the second goal of the contest.
- 76' | The Huskies responded seven minutes later, as Owen Hollobaugh sent a cross to Wilsterman, who redirected a fast cross into the back of the net with his head for the game-winning goal.
