SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – After Shippensburg scored the opening goal in the 28th minute, East Stroudsburg University men's soccer back Pieter Neerhof headed in the equalizing goal in the 44th minute, as the Warriors and Raiders settled for a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes at David See Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Warriors (4-0-4, 1-0-4) pick up a single point in the standings for the third consecutive matchup. The Raiders (3-3-2, 1-3-1 PSAC East) move into a tie with Shepherd for fifth place with the tie.
Notables
- With ESU trailing, a corner kick inserted by Ignasi Cucurella Tuset would be deflected mid-air by freshman Tycho de Vries and defelcted again off Neerhof's head and into the goal for a rare double-assisted goal. The goal for Neerhof is the first of his sophomore season and the fourth of his career.
- SU's Nathan Weldon opened the scoring off an assist by Ashton Davies during the 28th minute of play.
- The Warriors led in shots (19-9), shots on goal (8-5) and corners (7-6). ESU and SU were both issued a yellow card.
- ESU GK Brayden Evans (3-0-2) made four saves in the 90-minute performance. For SU, Cody Willoughby (1-2-1) made six saves in the draw,
- The draw between programs is the first since 2018 in the PSAC Tournament, ESU won 4-2 on penalty kicks to advance.
- ESU now leads the all-time series, 50-15-5.

- 28' | On a corner kick, Davies sent an accurate corner into play, as Evans looked to handle the potential goal. Weldon was able to separate the ball from Evans' hands with his foot for the first goal of the contest.
