Warriors Win Seven Events, Add Nine PSAC Qualifying Marks at Moravian Indoor Meet

BETHLEHEM – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team dominated the Moravian Indoor Meet on Saturday at Rauch Field House (at Lehigh) as the Warriors won seven events while adding nine additional PSAC automatic qualifying marks.  

Capturing first place finishes in their respective events were Anthony Voto (weight throw), Cole Gorham (shot put), Tyler Boone (60m), Kobe Jenkins (60m hurdles), Jaylen Morrison (400m), Miguel Charlery (200m) and the 4x400m relay team.

PSAC Automatic Qualifiers

Adding additional PSAC automatic qualifying marks and times for the Warriors was Boone (60m), Renaco Limberg (200m), Tim Gale (800m, Mile), Landon Boyle (5000m), Brian McGarrity (5000m), Evan Wooby (5000m), Jaden Johnson (high jump) and Will Mattei Jr. (shot put)

Running Highlights

On his way to a first place finish in the 60m dash, Boone clocked a personal-best and PSAC automatic qualifying time of 7.00, which is tied for third all-time in the school record book with Charley, who captured a third-place finish in the event at 7.06.

The Warriors finished first through third in the 60m hurdles as Jenkins posted the top time and personal-best of 8.34 while Joshua Rand was the runner-up after crossing the line in 8.53 seconds. Freshman Ragiariki Lewis took third at 8.58 and junior Bryan Rodrigues (9.06) rounded out the finishes in eighth place.

In the 200m, Charley captured a first-place finish with a time of 22.32, Limberg (22.72) was third and sophomore Justin Gockley (23.69) rounded out ESU's finishes in seventh place. With his performance, Charlery moved up to fifth all-time in the school record book. 

ESU earned four of the top-five finishes in the 400m as sophomore Morrison captured the title with a time of 50.84, while Ryan Ditty (50.99) was the runner-up, followed by Zephyr Crestwell (51.04) in third and Zandrew Bowe (51.46) in fifth place.

The Warriors "A" squad that consisted of Ditty, Renaco, Crestwell and Trey Boyd went on to take first place in the 4x400m as the quartet clocked a finish of 3:25.18.

With Liam Hansberry, Emmanuel Gitonga, Ethan Holcomb and Bryce Keenoy representing ESU in the Distance Medley Relay, the four Warriors combined to run a time of 11:03.27 on the way to a second place finish.

In the 5000m, sophomore Boyle rounded out the top-10 after crossing the line in 15:30.05, while juniors McGarrity (15:32.05) and Wooby (15:33.55) were right behind in 11th and 12th place.

ESU posted a quartet of top-15 finishers in the mile as Gale paced the Warriors in third place with a time of 4:23.17 while fellow classmates Cory Miduri (4:37.70), Holcomb (4:39.35) and Jack Becker (4:40.04) took 11th, 13th and 15th respectively.

Gale returned to the track for the 800m as the Sunbury native earned a runner-up finish after clocking a time of 1:57.40, while Gitonga was sixth at 1:59.98.

Field Event Highlights

En route to capturing the title in the weight throw, Voto continued to impress in year two with the Warriors as the sophomore notched a personal-best toss of 17.28m (56-8 ½), keeping him at sixth all-time in program history. Sophomore Josh Meshach just missed the top-10 in 11th with a personal-best attempt of 13.11m (43-0 ¼).

The Warriors put together an impressive showing in the shot put as Gorham took the crown with a personal-best throw of 17.55m (57-7), moving him up to second all-time in the school record books. Additionally, he slid up to eighth in the NCAA Division II rankings with his performance. Voto posted a third place finish at 15.14m (49-8 ¼) and Mattei was sixth with a PSAC automatic qualifying mark of 14.32m (46-11 ¾). Meshach rounded out the finished in ninth after recording a toss of 13.78m (45-2 ½).

ESU dominated the high jump as the Warriors earned four of the top five finishes led by junior Aaron Sanchez, who cleared the bar at a season-best height of 2.00m (6-6 ¾) to earn a second place finish. Freshman Drew Domurat (1.95m – 6.4 ¾) was right behind in third, Johnson took fourth with PSAC automatic qualifying height of 1.90m (6-2 ¾) and fellow classmate Daniel Smith (1.85m – 6-0 ¾) finished fifth.

Sophomore Chris Costa earned a runner-up finish in the pole vault after clearing the bar at a personal-best height of 4.40m (14-5 ¼) and freshman Carlton Wise eclipsed 3.95m (12-11 ½) on his way to taking fourth.

Making his ESU debut in the long jump, Johnson took fourth after leaping 6.49m (21-3 ½) and freshman Nasir Heard finished 12th place with a personal-best mark of 6.14m (20-1 ¾). Heard returned to the sand pit for the triple jump where he took fifth after leaping a personal-best 13.14m (43-1 ½).
