NEW YORK, N.Y. – The East Stroudsburg University men's track and field team competed at the Ramapo College Season Opener and the NYC Gotham Cup on Friday, winning two events and recording nine top-three finishes. The Warriors added six PSAC automatic qualifying marks and one NCAA provisional mark.
Aaron Sanchez (high jump) and Cole Gorham (shot put) earned first-place finishes to lead the Warriors.
PSAC Automatic Qualifiers
Tyler Boone (400 meters, 200 meters), Jack Gorham (long jump), Taylor Labarre (pole vault), Mark Jackson (200 meters), and Peter Stanislavsky (long jump) all reached PSAC automatic qualifying marks and times with Stanislavsky doing so at the NYC Gotham Cup. Sanchez (high jump) achieved the NCAA provisional mark after surpassing the PSAC mark last weekend.
Running Highlights
On the track, Ragiariki Lewis led the Warriors with a second-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking in at 8.47 seconds. Colin Manley rounded out the top five with a time of 8.77.
In the 200 meter, Boone picked up one of his two third-place finishes, running a time of 22.12, which is the seventh fastest time for a Warrior. Jackson finished just outside the top five with a time of 22.40, while Jaylen Morrison placed 12th with a 22.65.
Boone (49.22) finished third again in the 400 meter, Jackson (50.40) and fellow Warrior Zephyr Crestwell (51.52) both placed in the top 10 at seventh and tenth.
Lucas Thaler (1:59.87) and Tim Gale (1:59.88) crossed the finish line in succession, finishing 13th and 14th, respectively in the 800 meter.
In the mile run, Brian McGarrity placed 11th with a time of 4:27.54, just outside the top 10.
Field Event Highlights
In the high jump, Sanchez won the event with a leap of 6 feet, 9½ inches to move up to sixth on the top 10 list and 13th in Division II this season, while Albert Morton took fourth with a jump of 6 feet, 5½ inches.
Jack Gorham finished third in the long jump with a performance of 23 feet.
In the triple jump, Jaden Johnson earned second place with a jump of 46 feet, 11 ¾ inches.
Taylor Labarre earned second place for ESU with his vault of 14 feet, 7 ¼ inches.
In shot put, Cole Gorham secured the second first-place finish for the Warriors with a throw of 56 feet, 1 inch. Anthony Voto (pictured above) placed fourth with a throw of 50 feet, 5½ inches, and in the weight throw, Voto finished third with a personal-best throw of 62 feet, 2½ inches, solidifying his position at third on the ESU top 10 list and ninth in Division II so far this season.
At the NYC Gotham Cup, Stanislavsky rounded out the top five with a leap of 22 feet, 6 inches.
