National championship gymnast. He won the floor exercise title at the NCAA Division II Gymnastics Championships in 1984. He also tied for second in the floor exercise once and the vaulting twice in NCAA competition. He led the Warriors to two straight NCAA Division II titles. He was chosen as the Senior Male Athlete of the Year in 1984.
