All-America first team football defensive end. He also made the All-Conference and All-East squads. He was chosen as the Senior Male Athlete of the year in 1980. He was the first ESU player ever chosen in the National Football League draft as a sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings. He played five years in the NFL.
